Cerro Moro deposit is located at 48°5'55”S, 66°39'1.6”W, in Santa
Cruz province, southern Argentina. It is a low sulfidation Au-Ag
epithermal deposit hosted by structurally controlled quartz veins,
mostly with NW-SE orientation (Mugas Lobos and Márquez-
Zavalía 2017).
The Escondida vein is the most significant mineralized structure in the area, hosting the base metal-rich and Au-Ag bonanza grade
mineralization. In this vein, and Zoe ore-shoot (Fig. 1), the
mineralization is frequently related to the third stage of
mineralization, characterized by: sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, acanthite and pyrite (Fig. 2), associated with gold and silver in a gangue of fine-grained quartz with variable quantities of sericite; this stage is locally known as the black silica stage
